The Black Lax Classic Is Black History!
On Friday, February 7, 2025, we hosted our 3rd Annual Black Lax Classic (BLC) at Olney Athletic Fields. The BLC is our annual Black History Month celebration that acknowledges the Black male and female lacrosse players who have excelled in the sport and exemplify Harlem Lacrosse’s core values, both on and off the field.
Leading up to the event, our middle and high school students engaged in enrichment activities that exposed them to the journeys and athletic accomplishments of the individuals and teams who serve as past and present pioneers of inclusion in the sport. On game day, boys and girls from all six Philadelphia programs and our guests from West Philadelphia, the Young Quakers, engaged in 7v7 or 11v11 competitions. Students also competed for awards for athleticism and sportsmanship. We are incredibly grateful for Arcadia Women’s Lacrosse and Haverford Men’s Lacrosse for serving as coaches and referees during the event. We are equally thankful for the many volunteers, family and friends who attended!
